| 7th DCA-Members' Forum HDD-Technology, Aachen  Mud-Motor versus dual rod system

Nowadays, almost all machine manufacturers offer HDD drilling rigs with so-called all-terrain technology for drilling in solid rock. In these systems, the tool or the drill bit is driven by an internal rod, which rotates in the outer drill rod. The other, classic variant for rock drilling is the mud motor, in which the drill bit is driven by the drilling fluids. Both systems differ considerably in terms of structure, dimensions, fluid consumption, controllability, steering method, application limits, etc.

The aim of this year's Members' Forum is to discuss these differences with the participants, to evaluate them and to work out the advantages and disadvantages of the two different systems.
